Just because...

While finishing up my last Christmas order tonight, I had fun playing around with some leftover cookies and icing!  With my colour selection limited to the Christmas colours, I came up with some fun designs.  It's my sister's 29th birthday tomorrow so somehow we'll have to stick a candle in these for her.
I wanted to try out some new edible ink writers as well, so I used them on these snowmen cookies!  I wasn't happy with the Wilton ones I had, but I'm loving these new Americolor ones!

I would like to thank all my clients for a great 2010 year... or should I say the past 6 months!   I never imagined that these cookies would take off like they have!  May you all have a restful holiday season and a fabulous 2011!  What occassion will you order cookies for in 2011?   January is booking up already so place your order early!

Whew... busy in the kitchen!!

What a busy time of year!  I have gone back to teaching full-time, and baking cookies... not to mention those other jobs that somehow don't get done on their own like raising 3 kids, laundry, dishes etc!  But... I LOVE IT ALL!  Ok.. so I don't love laundry or dishes but the rest is mighty fine!   In the midst of all the Christmas cookies, I got to make some birthday cookies!  Kept them simple, and I loved how they turned out!  It was for a 4 year old to take to his preschool class.  When you are dealing with 4 year olds, and preschool... you keep all the cookies the SAME!   I know the teacher would thank me! :-)  I did the same when baking a swack of our new Double Decker Mini's for school classes!!  Here are some pics of the latest creations this season!

I love these Winter boxes I got for this Christmas season! So festive!
 MANY MINI's ready to go!!

CHRISTMAS IS A COMING...

and you will want these at your table this festive season!   These cookies are my usual 3.5 inch square cookie with a layer of D-Lish fondant and decorated using D-Lish royal icing!   Classic in design and D-Lish in taste, you can not go wrong!

I had a phone call from a customer who had already ordered a few dozen for this upcoming season.   Then as she was pondering what to take in to the teachers at school for the staff room, she wondered if I could do a smaller version.. .a nibble.. just a tease!   So I came up with... DRUM ROLL PLEASE.....

THE DOUBLE DECKER MINI!   :-)   This is a 2 inch square tease of a D-Lish Cookie... but to make up for the lack in size, I doubled the thickness!   These are also available this holiday season by the dozen.    Shown here with the larger cookie to compare in size!

Feedback...

is always fun to get... especially if it's good!  Scary to ask for it hoping it's not bad!  This email today made me LAUGH out loud!  ENJOY!

From a friend with high expectations... I mailed her some cookies for her birthday etc!
Kelsie says...

Unbelievable!!! Seriously I was expecting them to be good 'cause I mean...sugar cookies!! and fondant!! ...I was expecting them to be slightly dry...like often sugar cookies are plus they were sent in the mail...but (you may not consider this a total compliment...) I actually swore when I took my first bite...luckily I was by myself!!! They are so soft and extremely yummy!

Thanks, Kelsie!

And... stayed tuned for something NEW coming tomorrow and some samples of Christmas cookies!

Wedding Bells....

will soon be ringing for C and C!   I am fortunate enough to know this lovely couple and we can't wait to attend their wedding the end of January.   C's bridesmaid ordered cookies for her wedding shower held this past week-end.   Here is a peak of a few I made for that event.   I'm now looking forward to making their favours for their upcoming wedding!  Stayed tuned for those!

GO TEAM GO!

6 dozen football cookies to celebrate 2 teams and the end of the season for them!   These are 2 VERY lucky St. Albert football teams... the Jaguars and the Colts get to devour these cookies at their year-end bash this week-end!   After a few failed attempts, I decided that I just wasn't cut out to freehand a Jaguars head!!!  So this is what we came up with instead!   Enjoy the cookies boys, and congrats on your season.  I know that you played hard enough to deserve one of these D-Lish Cookies!

Last week!

Last week I had an order for a Birthday Boy!  He is in love with dogs and wanted dog cookies to take to his class at school.   I heard that they went over well so that was great!   I did 2 types of dogs however, in my haste to get them bagged and delivered, I missed taking pictures of 1 type!

A few months ago I had a request for a Gift Certificate for a wedding.   So the lucky couple who received this certificate ordered their cookies to match what had been their wedding colours and theme... blue and orange were their colours with a butterfly theme!  It was very unique!   You can see a sample of their gorgeous wedding photos at http://www.beautiphotography.com/

And... I wanted to send along a sample pack to a good friend of mine who had a birthday last month, as well as graduated from nursing school!   I was so proud of her!!!  It was a good excuse to use up my leftover fondant!!!  So there was no theme for her!!  Poor girl... At least they'll taste good :-)

I will be accepting Christmas Orders until Dec. 1/10.  These cookies would be a great gift for your child's teacher!   CHRISTMAS SAMPLE PACKS will be 6 cookies for $15.
CHRISTMAS COOKIES are 1 dozen for $24.

Football Season...

is coming to an end, and you may want some for your Grey Cup party!  :-)   Actually, these Steeler cookies are for a diehard fan for his birthday.   And the floral cookies for his mom and her birthday!   Lots of birthdays!

Shhh... don't tell anyone my secret.  But... I got the new Cricut Cake Machine.  I am loving it!  I was a little nervous about whether or not it would cut my homemade marshmallow fondant, which is so much better then that store bought stuff!!!  However, it's wonderful!!!!   The possibilities are certainly endless now, folks!

Cookies for Cancer

This Sunday in Sherwood Park there is a fundraiser for Cancer called, Big Dreams Small Hands.   If you are able to go... please do and support a great cause!   Tickets are $15 and available through Ticketmaster.
Through networking on facebook with other Entreprenerial Moms in the Edmonton area, I found this lady, Kelly, from Dream Photography.   It's her babysitter, Shayna, who has been diagnosed and so her young daughter wanted to do something special to raise money.   In her call out to other businesses for donations etc, I have donated a dozen cookies to be sold at the bake sale.   GO BUY A COOKIE!

BOOOOOOOOO!!!

I know... I tried to scare you!  It didn't work, did it???  :-)   Here are the Hallowe'en cookies I came up with for this year.   The D-Lish butter cookie that is soft and melts in your mouth, covered with D-Lish royal icings!   Seriously good.   Unfortunately, I made a few extras... sigh.... in my belly they went!!!  They are simply irresistable!

TODAY'S SPECIAL... if you live in the Edmonton area and would like these D-Lish Cookies for your Halloween event or your child's class party....   Order today and receive them for just $15/dozen!  The designs shown below are the designs available for this special.  Mix em up or order all the same!

Hooooooot.....

Here are a couple of pictures of the latest cookies I've attempted.   I must say that I'm admiring my husband more and more.  He sure does do a lot with the kids but when he's been working late all week and I had these orders to get out, I felt a bit frazzled!  Frazzled because my counter space is limited so I'm using EVERY inch of it, and the table top is COVERED!!!   So... keeping the kids away for fear of just one cookie being destroyed... eating our dinner off the living room floor... ahhhhh!!!   Needless to say... I'm really looking forward to our new house in the new year with a BIG kitchen and hopefully a kitchen in the basement... commercial kitchen... hmm.... :-)

I think these orders turned out really cute.   They are a fondant background with royal icing for the details.  Using the flow royal icing, the cookies take longer to make as it needs to harden before doing the next layer, so to speak!  I'm learning more patience!  Enjoy!

Interested in trying before buying???   Try a sample pack of 6 cookies for just $10!

I love receiving feedback. One lady today told me, "You know what you've done... now I'm expected to bring these cookies to every event!  They were mad at me for bringing a pie to Thanksgiving dinner rather than cookies!"
How awesome is that!   Because remember... these cookies not only look good... they TASTE good!

Also, I'll will include some great shots of the cookies I made for our family photos with http://www.beautiphotography.com/ , an amazing Cochrane based photographer.  We travelled down there the end of September for our pictures and couldn't have been happier with the results!  The kids welcomed the treat of a cookie when this shoot was almost over!

VaaRooomm!!!

It was my son's birthday last week and he was a little undecided what he really wanted for his birthday... he kept coming back to pirates so a pirate cake and cookies it was... however... he saw this motorbike cookie cutter and decided that he needed some BLUE motorbike cookies!  Here's my simple attempt!  :-)  We went simple and eliminated the "muffler" piece????   At 4, I didn't think he'd care too much!!!

Welcome!

Time for a blog!   A real life cookie blog!   And... not just ANY cookie, let me tell you!!!    This is a soft and D-Lish butter cookie home baked and hand decorated using royal and fondant icings!
These cookies are a  MUST HAVE for your next event!   These cookies have been used as wedding favours, baby shower treats, birthday treat bag gifts and so much more!   So whether you have a wedding, a birthday, a holiday that you are celebrating, let me design a cookie that will suit your event perfectly!   My standard cookies that I design are 4 inches square.

I will be upfront with you... this is a hobby and a really fun past time for me in the midst of raising my 3 young children with my amazing husband.   I am a teacher and soon about to head back to work, but enjoy baking too much to not share it with others!   That way, I get to bake but the results don't end up on my hips!  So, I do not have a commercial kitchen!   Some day!!!  Dreams...

So, here on this blog, you'll find pictures (I wish I was a professional!) of my most recent cookies, and even a deal or 2!   Maybe even a giveaway!   Stay tuned and please let me know you've stopped by for a visit!

Thanksgiving and Halloween are the holidays that most of you will be celebrating this month.   My kids are simply thankful for the candy they'll receive!  :-)   So for this first post I'll show you some Fall designs I did as well as some Pirate cookies I made a few weeks ago.  In these cookies I used edible ink for the first time and I can see that it'll quickly become a favourite tool!  Coming up this month will be cookies for a baby shower with an Owl theme and of course... Halloween cookies!
